The ejection of Quincy Miller didn’t stop the Converge FiberXers from snatching their fifth straight win in the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Melecio Leads FiberXers' Charge
There’s no stopping the Converge FiberXers’ climb to the top. Even with import Quincy Miller exiting the game early due to an ejection, the FiberXers still ran away with a 108-84 victory over the NLEX Road Warriors. Aljun Melecio had another stellar outing, finishing with a game-high 24 markers, while also tallying five rebounds and six assists.
Miller incurred a flagrant foul that threw him out of the game in the second quarter but Converge already dealt NLEX a lot of damage by then. They raced to a 17-point lead at the end of the opening canto, and the FiberXers didn’t look back from there. This is Converge’s fifth win in a row, tying the Bay Area Dragons (6-2) for the second spot in the standings.
NLEX’s Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser had his best scoring output this conference, as he produced 24 points and nine boards in the loss. The Road Warriors struggled mightily on offense, hitting just 32% of their shots. Import Earl Clark only had 15 markers, as NLEX falls to a 3-4 record.
TNT Makes Easy Work of Terrafirma
As expected, the TNT Tropang Giga easily cruised to a 121-90 win over the listless Terrafirma Dyip. Import Cameron Oliver amassed a double-double night of 26 points and 15 rebounds, helping the Tropang Giga arrest a two-game skid. Five other TNT players chipped in double digits in the scoring column, including J-Jay Alejandro (17), Calvin Oftana (15), Poy Erram (14), Jayson Castro (11), and Jaydee Tungcab (11).
Terrafirma import Lester Prosper topscored with 32 markers, while Juami Tiongson and Eric Camson chipped in 16 apiece. But it was another abysmal performance from Terrafirma’s defense, as they let TNT make 52% of their attempts. The Dyip is still winless in eight games, while the Tropang Giga improves to a 4-4 slate.
