A jampacked NBA game day featured tremendous individual performances from the likes of Jalen Green, Steph Curry, and many more.

Jalen Green and other takeaways (November 8)

• Jalen Green did something memorable in the Houston Rockets’ 134-127 win over the Orlando Magic. By recording 34 points today, he joins Luka Doncic, Devin Booker, Anthony Edwards, Kyrie Irving, and LaMelo Ball as the only guards who turned in at least 10 30-point games before turning 21 years of age (h/t StatMuse). Green drilled five treys and missed only six of his 18 total attempts against the Magic. He was also locked in on defense (3 stocks), including this incredible block on Magic wing Kevon Harris.

• The Golden State Warriors did new iterations to their lineups in today’s 116-113 win over the Sacramento Kings. James Wiseman and JaMychal Green didn’t play, and Jordan Poole replaced Kevon Looney to start the third quarter. Still, it all boiled down to the heroics of Steph Curry, who fired seven triples on his way to a game-high 47 markers. It took every bit of Steph’s magic to tow the Warriors to the win, especially in the clutch when he seemed to have his fingerprints all over the offense. Steph, who turns 35 next year, is doing some heavy lifting by averaging 32.6 points through ten games.

• The Utah Jazz has made their way to the top of the Western Conference. The Jazz cruised past a LeBron-less Los Angeles Lakers today, hitting 55.8% of their shots and compiling 30 assists on their way to a convincing 139-116 victory. With both their offense and defense currently ranking in the Top 10, Utah has won nine of their first 12 games.

• Joel Embiid was impressive in his return, hauling a double-double of 33 points and 10 rebounds in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 100-88 win over the Phoenix Suns. Along with his brilliance on offense, the more encouraging sight was Embiid’s laser focus on the defensive end of the floor. Sure, he only had one block in the box score, but his presence inside and his defensive rotations (in his first game back from missing three games) bode well for a Sixers team that struggled defensively prior to this win.

• Are the Indiana Pacers really planning on contending this season? If the answer is no, they might want to ship Myles Turner to a contender because he could be a huge help for a team chasing a deep run in the playoffs. Turner produced 37 points, 12 rebounds, and in the Pacers’ 129-122 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. He also had three blocks, which is just a normal day in the office for him (averaging 3.5 blocks this season). Turner’s ability to space the floor on offense and protect the rim on defense should make him a highly-valued commodity in the trade market.

• The Milwaukee Bucks’ undefeated start to the season comes to an end, as they fall to an Atlanta Hawks squad without main star Trae Young. The Bucks had 19 turnovers and their top-ranked defense wasn’t exactly on-point today. Led by Dejounte Murray’s playmaking, Atlanta had their way inside (50 points in the paint) and limited Milwaukee’s offense in the last two quarters (only 40 points total in the second half).

• Along with the 30-point performances already mentioned above, this jam-packed NBA game day featured more individual scoring wonders. Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum (39), Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic (31), Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (33), New York Knicks’ Julius Randle (31), San Antonio Spurs’ Keldon Johnson (30), Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine (30), Orlando Magic’s Paolo Banchero (30), Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant (30), and Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell (30) are the other players who eclipsed 30 points today.
