The Rundown From Friday’s PBA: Tio’s Hot Shooting Lifts Phoenix Past Ginebra

If you missed Blackwater’s escape against Terrafirma or Tyler Tio’s masterful shooting against  Ginebra, here is a quick recap from Friday’s 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup doubleheader.

Krutwig’s 20-20 performance stomps Dyip to their 21st straight defeat

Cameron Krutwig stuffed the stat sheet with 29 points and 24 rebounds while Baser Amer added 21 points and 5 rebounds as the Blackwater Bossing kept the Terrafirma Dyip winless, 93–86. 

Troy Rosario contributed 15 points and 5 rebounds, while Rashawn McCarthy bounced back from last game’s struggles after scoring 10 points to help Blackwater grab their third win this conference. 

Lester Prosper had his usual double-double performance with 18 points and 11 rebounds. However, the lack of local support continues to keep the lowly Dyip from entering the winning column. 

Andreas Cahilig added 12 points on 5-of-7 clipping, while JP Calvo and Aldrech Ramos scored 10 points apiece in the losing effort. Joshua Munzon’s offensive woes continued as the 2020 1st overall pick scored only nine points on 3-of-11 shooting.

Tio, Serrano spark Fuel Masters to overcome Gin Kings

Tyler Tio shot the lights out, scoring 17 points and dishing out 7 assists, while Javee Mocon added 20 points as the Phoenix Super LPG took control of the fourth quarter to defeat Barangay Ginebra, 101-93. 

Former Ginebra 3×3 player Enchong Serrano provided some spark off the bench for the Fuel Masters, scoring 16 points  as the Phoenix’s bench outscored Ginebra’s, 47-14. 

Kaleb Wesson amassed 15 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 assists, while veteran Sean Anthony contributed 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists in the win. 

Stanley Pringle is starting to get his groove back scoring 25 points, while Justin Brownlee flirted with a triple-double after amassing 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists in the defeat. 

High-flying forward Jamie Malonzo added 13 points, while reigning MVP Scottie Thompson finished the game with 11 points and 6 rebounds as Ginebra dropped to a 2-2 slate.
