The dynamic Anthony Edwards-Adidas collaboration will continue for several more years.
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has re-signed with adidas.
The contract extension is an eight-figure, multi-year agreement, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. This will establish Edwards as the new “face” of the Three Stripes brand.
It was in 2020 when Edwards first signed a shoe deal with adidas. In September 2023, the brand finally launched Edwards’s first signature shoe. The adidas AE 1 was a success, as it provided hoopers with exceptional responsiveness and grip.
It also helped that Edwards is coming off an amazing NBA season. He notched his second consecutive All-Star selection, averaging 25.9 points and 5.1 assists per game. He and the Timberwolves made a run to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since the 2003-04 season.
Edwards’s success on the court will gain him new fans and sponsorships. Add the fact that the 22-year-old is oozing with confidence. He will surely become a highly marketable athlete for years to come.
With both Damian Lillard and James Harden getting there in age, adidas might be readying for a new basketball face. Edwards could join a legendary list that previously featured Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, Derrick Rose, and Gilbert Arenas.
