MATERIALS
As mentioned above, the Nike Cosmic Unity is infused with 25% recycled materials designed to cope with the fast-paced style of modern basketball. The textile-like and Flywire-like uppers are firm and bulky. While the pair provides good stability on majority of the uppers, it seems like it neglected comfort.
The uppers do not have good airflow and ventilation except for the tongue area, which makes the pair feel stiffer and thicker. Nowadays, players heavily rely on both performance and comfort of the pair, treating it as an all-in-one package. Despite this, the pair is very promising and can still be improved in the near future if Nike will prioritize comfort on the uppers (insert crossed-fingers).
Unlike the other parts of the uppers, the toe box is soft. Apologies for breaking up the party, but if you think that this is one of the positive takeaways of the pair, then you might be disappointed. While this might depend on the user’s preference, the soft toe box does not really conform well with the user’s foot and the material even digs in when being pressed.
This implies that the forefoot does not really mold to the foot, but with some break-ins, the user’s preferred hug might still be attained. The uppers might not be that good compared to other Nike basketball pairs, but it can provide good lockdown and durability.
Besides, the strengths of the Nike Cosmic Unity were actually put somewhere else.
