The all-around Will Navarro lifted NorthPort to an important win in the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Navarro does everything in crucial NorthPort win
Will Navarro showed just how versatile he is, powering the NorthPort Batang Pier to a 112-97 victory over the Converge FiberXers. The rookie Navarro went 11-of-14 from the field and finished with an all-around stat line of 29 points, 17 rebounds, 9 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. He was reinforced by lead guard Robert Bolick, who also had his own double-double of 26 points and 10 assists.
The FiberXers played without import Quincy Miller, who was benched after arriving late in a team practice. Aljun Melecio had an efficient game with 20 points, eight assists, and no turnovers. Converge snaps their seven-game winning streak and drops to the fourth spot in the standings.
Meanwhile, the Batang Pier improves to a 6-5 record, boosting their playoff chances as a result.
Ginebra escapes gutsy import-less TNT
Even against an import-less squad, Barangay Ginebra had to put their A-game on to escape the TNT Tropang Giga with a close 89-85 victory. Justin Brownlee flirted with a triple-double, tallying 21 points, nine boards, eight assists, and three blocks.
After carving a double-digit lead by the end of the opening period, the Gin Kings’ offense stalled in the next two quarters. TNT, who played without the injured Cameron Oliver, put up a brilliant defensive stand that helped them storm back into the game.
However, the Tropang Giga ran out of gas in the fourth quarter, as they drop to a 4-6 slate, now on the brink of elimination. Mikey Williams (20) and RR Pogoy (18) combined for 38 markers in the low-scoring affair.

The Batang Pier's dynamic duo of Robert Bolick and Will Navarro accounted for 19 of the team's total 30 assists against the FiberXers. The arrival of Navarro gives NorthPort another playmaker to work with, and this could make Bolick a lot more unpredictable to defend.

Ginebra had every kind of problem against the TNT defense, especially in that second to third quarter span. The Gin Kings compiled 27 assists, but they also committed 20 turnovers. Prior to this game, Ginebra already averaged the second-highest turnover count in the league, so this could be something they need to figure out.
