1st: Luka Doncic – 42 points
Mavericks (vs. Clippers) – August 17, 2020
The top-ranked player in this list is surprisingly the most recent entry. Luka Doncic produced 42 points in his first playoff game in the NBA.
Doncic was spectacular in his first year with the Mavericks in which his captivating performances earned him the Rookie of the Year award in 2019. Then in just his second year in the league, the Slovenian standout carried his team to its first playoffs appearance since 2016.
During the 2020 NBA Playoffs in the Orlando Bubble, Doncic played his first postseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Kawhi Leonard-led Clippers won the game with the final score, 118-110.
Still, Luka dazzled in his debut, putting up 42 points to go along with seven rebounds and nine assists. His 42-point game is the highest scoring output by a player in his first playoff game. He also had a memorable Game 4 outing when he sank the game-winning three-pointer. The Mavericks fell short after losing the series four games to two.
Expectations are truly high right now for Luka and the Mavericks, but they are currently in a tight battle against the same Clippers squad that eliminated them last season.
Luka leads the list of the NBA players with most points in their playoff debut.
