A rare shoe inspiration between Adidas and Reebok is on its way later this year. This once-in-a-blue-moon collaboration will be bannered by two heavyweight icons in the basketball world.
In 2006, Adidas bought the already-underperforming Reebok brand for US$3.8 billion. However, its continuous struggle led to various calls from investors to finally cease the brand.
Fifteen years after the purchase, news spread that the Boston-based brand will be discontinued this year.
While reports are still up in the air, the Three-Stripes brand is working on a shoe inspiration with the struggling Reebok. It features two of the biggest names under their paycheck, Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard and four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal.
Dubbed as “Damenosis”, Lillard’s Adidas Dame 7 will be drawing inspiration from Shaq’s iconic Reebok Shaqnosis. The uppers will be featured in a white base along with white stripes to reminisce on the OG Shaqnosis iteration.
In addition, the pair has the writings Dame D.O.L.L.A feat Shaq Diesel and the silhouette name Damenosis on the lateral part. The Adidas and Reebok tags can also be seen on the both medial sides of the pair along with a Shaq logo on the insoles to finish the looks.
The exact release date of the Adidas Dame 7 “Damenosis” has yet to be revealed. But it will soon be available at selected stores for US$100.
